Does Your Skin Care Routine Make the Grade?

Going back to school means leaving lazy days behind and returning to more rigorous routines. Just don’t forget to make time for healthy habits, including daily skin care.

Long days, sleepless nights and the stresses of coursework and exams can take a toll on your complexion. So, sit up and pay attention to your skin—after all, it’s your body’s largest organ!—and give it the care it deserves.

Skin acting out in class?

Avoiding breakouts is as simple as washing your face! After days packed with homework, study and after-class events, a deep facial cleaning is often the last thing you want to before bed. But it’s the most important first step to maintaining good skin care! Make time to cleanse away a day’s worth of pollution, makeup and overall bacteria that has built up on your skin.

Allow skin to regenerate during night. It should be at its cleanest to be able to feed off healthy skincare products like serums, moisturizers and masks. If you’re really tired, skip a morning cleansing instead of a night time one. Just don’t make it a habit!

Lazy night routine? There’s still time to save face.

  • Use products like Purity Clean cleanser, Radiance serum and Mystic hydrating treatment mist before hitting the sack.

  • Sleep on silk pillow cases to prevent fine lines and winkles. Change them at least twice a week.

  • Mask and exfoliate twice a week. A detox scrub is a must—mix it with your cleanser for best results. Rescue + mask will give you a hydrated fresh look, and you can even sleep with it on.

Lazy morning routine? Simplify to put your best face forward.

Make Purity Clean cleanser, Cell ID serum, Shineless Moisturizer and Reflect 30 SPF part of an easy routine to start a busy day.

  • Are you an athlete? Pack your bag for the day with a few essentials to avoid breaking out.

- Purity Clean with lactic acid gently exfoliates to rid skin of dead cells.

- Use Purity Balance toner on the face and back. Make sure to spray it on a cotton pad before applying to the face to avoid areas around the eyes.

  • Try Clarity serum to keep breakouts under control, followed by a shineless moisturizer.

Healthy skin needs hydration

  • Always have water accessible—and not just for drinking! Have a small misting bottle on hand. Set your makeup with it. Spray it through the day to give your face a nice glow.

  • Leave the chips and other greasy or sugary snacks home. Instead, pack your bag with fresh, easily packable foods. Cucumbers, high in water content, balance hydration and help produce skin elastin and collagen. Blueberries can reduce DNA damage and protect against cholesterol. Carrots are a good source of fiber and vitamin K. Cherry tomatoes are full of potassium.

Have a Mask and Mingle with friends

Whether on a school night or a weekend at the dorm, make night time pore cleansing more fun with a girls’ pampering night. You can all wear matching PJs, watch Mean Girls and have a cup of hot cocoa, and each try different facial masks.

Going back to school can be a great motivator for setting new health and skin care routines. With your esthetician’s help, discover products for making skin care maintenance easier as routines change. We can’t control all our stressors and time constraints, but we can at least face each day with clearer, cleaner skin.

What better way to get to the head of the class?
